Happy December. I was so excited to recreate this family favorite to a meal in a jar using Freeze-dried (FD) food for you. If you look at the recipe and think I don’t have all those ingredients, don’t stress. Just substitute with food from your fridge or pantry.
Also be sure to check the website part-timeprepper.com to take advantage of this month’s discounted items (a few from this recipe are waiting there for you)
DIRECTIONS
In a one-pint jar add
- 3/4 cups FD cooked chicken
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to season
- 1tsp chicken bouillon
- 3/4 cup FD mushrooms
- 2 tbsp FD instant milk powder
- 1/2 cup FD spinach
In a small bag add
- 1 tbsp FD chopped onions
- 1/2 tbsp FD garlic
When ready to make –
Add one cup of water to the contents of the jar (minus the bag of onions and garlic)
While the contents of the jar are refreshing cook one cup of pasta. (We prefer penne for this meal)
In a pan add one tablespoon of butter, onions, and garlic and heat till aromatic
Add refreshed contents to the pan and heat. When the pasta is ready combine it with the chicken /mushroom mix
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional – Top with Parmesan cheese (if using FD refresh while cooking pasta so it’s ready to melt on your delicious meal).
